Austin turns 6

This year we decided to do family parties for our kids.  We have two big trips planned for the year so we thought we would keep our birthday parties pretty low key.  Austin's birthday week is always a fun one because it is the week of July 4th so we do lots of celebrating.  We kicked off the week with a little party with Clint's family at the drive inn movie.  We saw Monsters Inc. and had éclairs from  Dick's bakery.  On Sunday afternoon we surprised the kids with a little overnight stay in Park City.  We headed to the hotel after church and then ate, swam and relaxed all day.  Monday was his actual birthday and we woke up and had breakfast at our favorite place, Kneaders.  Then it was off to buy him a new bike for his birthday present.  To end our day we headed to the lake for a night of boating.  I am pretty sure that all of these pictures are not from that night but all of our boating trips are starting to blend together.
Our cute birthday boy!
These two have become really good buddies this summer.
Our handsome boy is getting way to big.

The boys have gotten so much better at wake boarding this year.

Kip likes to stand on the surf board and pretend to ski.

My niece Ari is gorgeous!

Then on Sunday we had our July family birthday party and decided to go with a French theme.  My nieces Golda and Ruby have been in Europe for the summer so we decided it would be fun to do something to remember them.  I decided crepe cakes would go great with the theme.  I enlisted Clint to help me with the cakes and 4 hours later we were done.  He told me it was the dumbest idea I have ever had. Dumb or not the cakes were really good.
To make the cakes you lay a crepe down and then spread it with custard and repeat 20 times.

Of  course you have to have an Eiffel Tower at  French themed party.
We sure love having Austin in our family.  He is usually the life of the party and is really funny.  He is very athletic and catches on to everything he tries.  He can do a head stand longer than you would think possible and he loves hip hop dancing.  He loves to talk about scary things but then will end up in our room scared at night.  He is a good friend and brother.  He hates church and will try and get out of going every week.   He is lost without his blanket.  I have had to replace the back of his blanket because it is so worn out.  He also hates toothpaste.  He will freak out if you touch him with it, he is so silly.  He will brush his teeth but he practically gags while he is doing. He is so much fun to be around we love him so much.

We love Austin too! He has always seemed older than he is. He is a great kid and handsome, too! Btw, those crepe cakes were to die for!
