Baby Girl is Here

First Cry
Nine months ago Clint and I found out we were pregnant.  I was so scared about being pregnant because five months earlier I had a miscarriage.  I was about 12 weeks but the baby never grew past about 4 weeks. I was so nervous this whole pregnancy that something would go wrong.  At each doctors appointment I would hold my breath until I heard the heart beat or saw the baby on the ultrasound.  I couldn't believe it when the doctor told me it was a girl.  I really thought we were having a boy again.  This pregnancy was one of my easiest pregnancy.  I wasn't very sick and I gained the least amount of weight.  The hardest part was having Clint gone all the time because he was working on our house.  He worked so hard to get us into the house and finished the Friday before Jersey was born.  I was so excited to set up her room and paint a wall pink!  My doctor gave me the go ahead to induce labor a week early since I had already dilated to a 3.  I was so excited to meet our baby girl.  The doctor started my induction at 1:00 on Friday May 11th.  I was really scared to have the epidural this time.   So when a student doctor showed up to give it to me I about cried.  He ended up not doing it because the doctor who was helping him took over.  He kept missing the place he was supposed to get it in.  Once the epidural was over I started to relax.  At about 4 O clock my nurse came in and started watching the baby really close.  Her heart rate had dropped because I was progressing to quickly.  The nurse thought I was about 8 centimeters dilated.  At this point they turned off the pitocin and started me on oxygen.  The nurse stayed in my room for about an hour and a half and closely watched Jersey's heart rate.  This had never happened to me so I got really nervous.  The nurse kept reassuring me that everything was fine.  When the doctor came in he checked me and told the nurse she could turn the pitocin back on and that he thought I was only at a six.  He had another baby to deliver at another hospital so he had to leave and told me it would be another few hours.  I started crying when he said I was at 6 because I thought I was at an 8 and almost ready to have the baby.  About a half an hour after the doctor left I felt like I had to push.  I kept ignoring it because I thought I still had another few hours to go.  When the nurse came in I told her she better check me because I felt different.  She checked me and I was ready to go.  Unfortunately the doctor was 15 mins away.  That was probably the longest fifteen mins of my life.  It is a lot harder to keep a baby in than push a baby out.  When I heard his voice in the hall I was so relieved.  I could barely wait for him to put his gown on and after one push she was in my arms.  She was so beautiful.  I couldn't believe all the long black hair she had.  She was wide awake and even had a little smile on her face.  I was also relieved at the peaceful feeling I had that she completed our family.  I felt like all of our babies were here safely.  (It was at about this point when Kip was born that I turned to Clint and told him we were having another baby.  I should have waited a little bit to tell him he thought I was crazy!)

It's so great to have the whole story written down. We just went through some of the kids' birth stories from my journal and they loved it. I love the pictures of the grandparents! I'm so glad Jersey is here to keep Tziporah company at the tail end of the family!

Congrats! you'll have so much fun with her :)
It's amazing how our families are so similar, after 3 boys I also had a miscarriage and then baby girl last year! It works the way it's supposed to and makes you appreciate the end result even more :)
good luck!
