July 4th and Austin's Birthday Party

For Austin's first birthday we threw a beach party. Complete with water ballons, slip and slides, pools and a cute beach cake. The party had a rough start when the wind picked up and my niece got her fingers slammed in our front door. I felt so bad when she had to make a 4th of July visit to the emergency room. Then our grill wouldn't start because of the wind. Other than that it was the perfect party. Austin had so much fun digging into his very own birthday cake. He actually ate the whole thing. We all had fun playing in the sun despite the windy weather and my niece Xanthe's broken fingers. Then Austin topped the day off when he took two steps for the first time. Way to go Aust!

You got some great pictures! The cake was a masterpiece. I sat next to it as I ate my dinner so I could admire all the little details. Great party, as usual. And Xanthe's fingers are all better. Sorry about adding all that excitement to Austin's special day! It was lots of fun. Way to go on the first steps, Austin! Nikki, if Austin gets any bigger, you'll have to have another one. Scott's getting baby-hungry! :)
